About My Book

My self-help book First You Have to Learn to Live Alone: A Compassionate Guide to Living Alone and Aging integrates science and meditation for personal well-being for our growing aged population who are often alone and ignored. In the United States 27-28 % Seniors Live Alone 38 % are seniors 85 and older and approximately 50% are women.

I speak from from experience. I’ve lived alone for many decades and I am old. I’ve survived divorce, a life-and-death health crisis and financial ruin. To survive, I was forced to create a path of recovery and practice.

First You Have to Learn to Live Alone outlines practical strategies on how to maintain emotional and physical health and a positive mental attitude. For emotional wellbeing and a sense of belonging we need connections with family,
friends, community and nature.

My book integrates inspiring stories of successful aging with easy-to-follow exercises and guided meditation practices.

Such as exercises on how to overcome fear, and how to develop new habits.

For the body we need a healthy diet, exercise and sleep. For emotional wellbeing and a sense of belonging, we need connections with family, community and nature. For mental wellbeing, meditation increases curiosity, compassion and gratutude.

Surround yourself with what you love, whether you’re alone or in poor health, have no money or friends you need a path to follow to bring an understanding and acceptance of your aging. Acceptance, resilience and courage are essential to managing stress and surviving old age in the face of adversity.

I am passionate about my book. I want to help people. I see my book as a companion and friend to those who are old and living alone.
